School's Over; Now What To Do? Come to Boracay!
It is possible to plan a budget trip with the entire class this summer at Boracay Island with only Php2500 pocket money (airfare/roro fees not included) for 4 days/3 nights! Not kidding. So before deciding where to stay in the island, consider these:
1. GO LOW-KEY. Generally, it is expensive to stay in Station 1 and staying on botique hotels. Look for Guest Houses, Inns, Pension Houses with fan rooms.
The trick is keeping tabs on cheap yet neat lodging--inns, guest houses, dorm, etc. (hint: click the tab "low budget resort" from the sidebar). You can find Php200-300 a night's stay per person. I recommend Cena's Guest House, Starfire Resort, Tree House / D'Mario, Friends, etc.
2. BOODLE FIGHT YOUR MEALS. Buy food that you can share with friends. Think Pork Liempo and Lechon Manok at Andok's (it's open 24/7 anyway). Try Smoke Resto Boracay and also Jaspers (just within D'mall).
3. KICK-OFF PARTY AT THE HOTEL. Yep. Get a bottle or so, drink but not too much then dance the night away or go bar-hoppping.
4. THE PIRATES WAY. Sail with the Red Pirates Paraw if you want your money's woth in Paraw sailing Island Tour. Watch sunset on a paraw (boat) or have picnic on a different island. I think they charge Php250-300 per person. You can find Red Pirates at Angol Point. Ahoo hoo!
5.WALK, ITS GOOD FOR YOU. Walk to get around the island but if you prefer to ride a motorcycle or tricycle go regular not special. Share your ride with other commuters. Tricycle fare is only roughly Php7-15 pesos each.
A GOOD DEAL: (just an example)
Php300/person accommodation is good deal. *non aircon, basic double sharing occupancy.
Php200/person daily food budget is possible. *sharing with friends.
Php50/ person share on kick-off drinking
Come Visit Boracay!
